It is truly astonishing to think of the amount of people who have chosen to purchase real estate at Central, Leeward (a.k.a. West Oahu) of Oahu. Vibrant, filled communities have established this area in recent years. Real estate here is by far the most affordable on the island. Developers took hold, waking up this sleepy part of Oahu, and created hope for new families to buy their own homes and begin new lives. They continue to build new homes and have plans for expansion for the next 20 years or so.

A newly built rail system called “Skyline” is a light metro system, now up and running. Taking residents from Kapolei to Honolulu. The rail is a great alternative which provides an efficient and reliable form of transportation for Leeward residents that travel to Honolulu, or would like to go to the airport without having to use their own vehicle.

Aiea and Pearl City, located just a few minutes from Honolulu have comfortable and attractive homes that are in the moderate price range. Some have Pearl Harbor and ocean views.

If there is any community on Oahu that looks like an “All American City”, it is Mililani. A bedroom community for Honolulu that is a carved out community that begun development in the early 1960’s that is still growing. The newest planned community “Koa Ridge” is currently for sale. Waikele has gently curving, tree-lined streets with a beautiful Golf Course and Oahu’s leading factory-premium outlet center.

Ewa Beach, Kapolei and Makakilo communities offer wonderful opportunities for first time home buyers. The median price range in this area is among the most affordable on the island. This location has new shopping centers, civic center, and other infrastructure necessities.

Drive a little further and you will see a tropical oasis called Ko’Olina. Newly built “Four Seasons Resort” has it all! Close by, will also find Disney’s “Aulani Resort” which attracts more people and add more value to the area. The “Atlantis Resort” is in the works which may be the most expensive resort ever built. Planned to have 1500 rooms rumored to be comprised of hotel rooms, timeshare and condos. There are upscale single family homes and condominiums nearby.

Drive approximately 20 minutes from Ko’Olina, you will be in Makaha and Waianae located on Oahu’s west shore about 34 miles northwest of Honolulu. There’s been a few newer affordable small home developments built recently. The course grained sand beaches are absolutely gorgeous. A residential community with a few fast food restaurants, markets, and small convenience stores.
